I couldn’t possibly thank the Alana Haines Australasian Awards Committee enough for giving me the opportunity to attend the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida for 4 weeks. It was an experience that I will never forget.

When I first arrived, I was nervous, and I didn’t really know what to expect. I was aware that I was at one the most amazing and high-quality dance schools, and I was standing there in awe. Soon enough I started to get the hang of things - I was making friends easily and thoroughly enjoying my classes.

The teachers over there really wanted to help improve my dancing whether it was in ballet, jazz, character or modern. They all took pride in helping me be the best version of myself. No matter what.

My personal favourite parts were the partnering class with Mr Kulpin and Mr Pakri. This was something relatively new to me and I had the best time learning about the correct ways to hold the partners and how to lift and turn them. I also really enjoyed this class because it made me feel like a professional ballet dancer.

Another highlight of my Harid experience was the nutrition class. We had this class every week and it really helped me to learn about things like long- and short-term energy. It was fun, the class was informative and was easy to learn. The teacher really took the time to listen to my questions and help me progress with my nutrition studies.

When we weren’t dancing, we were doing fun activities whether it was snorkelling, going to the water park or visiting a Japanese garden! We always had something to do. I had a blast and I will never forget the experience.

Harid helped me to improve my dancing to a whole new level and I will never forget this incredible opportunity. I would like to thank the Alana Haines Awards Committee and the HARID Conservatory from the bottom of my heart for giving me this chance of a lifetime and for having faith in me.
