Evangeline writes …..

I had the most amazing time at the Royal Danish Ballet Summer school in Copenhagen, Denmark and I wouldn’t have been able to make this dream come true without the enormous generosity given by Alana Haines Australasian Awards, so I thank you for this incredible opportunity.

During the three weeks I was lucky enough to have met some nice friends from other places around the world, coached by some highly acclaimed and well-known teachers and was able to train in the beautiful studios that the Royal Danish ballet had on offer. I was also fortunate to learn Bournoville technique which is what the school is known for and I have never experienced this technique, so it was great to something different.

The classes consisted of Bournoville technique, classical class, pointe work, Bournoville repertoire and classical repertoire, pas de duex classes, pilates and body conditioning, contemporary, choreography and creative process and fosse. At the end of the three weeks I did a performance at the Det Ny teater which was a remarkable experience. Company members often to class as well, which was so inspiring to be able to learn from them.

It was a memorable experience to spend 3 weeks in the European summer at The Royal Danish Ballet and I will never forget this opportunity I was given by AHAA. I’ve grown so much as a dancer and learnt many new things that will help further my ballet training.
