Alana Haines Australasian Awards 2011
Thank you to all of our sponsors for your very generous support of the 2011 Alana Haines Australasian Awards.
The 2011 Awards were the largest ever, with 260 participants from across Australia and NZ.
The AHA Awards continue to be the largest in Australasia and have a significant impact on the dancers often launching them onto the world stage.
If you need more background to the Awards here is the place to look.
2011 20th Anniversary included elite international sponsors from leading schools & companies including; New Zealand, Australia, London UK, New York USA, Cannes France & Hong Kong.
CASH AWARDS: Both Junior & Senior Awards increased dramatically for 2011 with a Supreme over-all winner of $11.000 exclusively to celebrate the 2011 Anniversary with the grand total of over $125.000. Separate cash awards were allocated to Supreme sections A & B age groups for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th. All 11 finalists plus all semi-finalists from both 'Junior Scholars' & 'Supreme Awards' sections won cash awards & or scholarships.
ONGOING FINANCIAL SUPPORT: This is a new initiative for 2011 and is offered to all Supreme Finalists for18 months after the event. There will be 3 rounds every six months. This fund assists recipients attending the scholarship they have won and applies to any dance related costs including travel, accommodation and dance requisites. The fund will be administered by the AHA Trust via application, however the more financial support AHA receives the more it can give back to the dancers.
SPONSORSHIP: The AHA Awards is a non-profit organization run strictly by volunteers & so every $ received goes back to the dancers. Please refer to 'Support Us' section on our website & click on 'Sponsorship Update' for sponsorship opportunities. This is an ideal opportunity for any dance related business as your logo & link to your website will be displayed on our website & remains there until August prior the next event. We welcome any large/small donations to assist young dancers' careers to inspire & foster excellence within the arts while providing a valuable career platform for our top young dancers at a crucial stage in their lives.

'ONGOING FUND' New in 2011
AHA Awards is the only competition in the world to offer ongoing financial support to AHA award recipients but with only NZ$60,000 in this fund to distribute in 3 rounds we need your contribution towards these funds to make a difference. Any contribution is a little more we can give to a dancer towards dance requistes, airfares or accommodation. Dance requisite vouchers will also be gratefully accepted.
This 'Ongoing Fund' is exclusively earmarked to support Supreme Finalists recipients and is offered for 18 months after the event. Applications include any dance related costs including travel, accommodation, dance requisites and will be administered by the AHA Trust via application in 3 rounds.
The 1st round from June to Dec 2011 is entirely focused on the scholarship they have won & applications are already being received. An approximate sum each applicant can expect to receive is approx NZ$2,500 but this amount may vary from N$500 - $9,000 depending on scholarship circumstances. For example: If the scholarship is in same city then airfares will not be required & if the Scholarship includes accommodation then this cannot be requested. Dance requisites required for the scholarship can be requested & extended scholarships where extra training fees are not covered by the school then this can also be requested. Please include all relative costs required to attend the scholarship for the period covered in 1st round. When the required funds exceed the amount granted then the reminder can be included in the next round Jan 2012.
Successful applicants will be expected to attend the scholarship & send us a written report of their experience before they can apply for further assistance towards any other internationally recognized competition, school or company. Results of these applications will be posted on the Website home page as they are processed.
